Malaysia Deaf Games or simply SOPMA (Sukan Orang Pekak Malaysia) is a multi-sport event for deaf athletes across the country. It is a biennial sports meet whereby deaf athletes from all states of Malaysia participate in this tournament. The first SOPMA was held in 1986, Kuala Lumpur, and was known as Inter-Club Deaf Games, abbreviated as KSAKP - Kejohanan Sukan Antara Kelab Pekak. It is often viewed as a high-end level competition for the deaf nationwide and is usually referred to as the “Malaysian Olympics”.
SOPMA is held once every two years. Participants were picked from a pool of possible strong deaf athletes from each respective state to come together and compete with each other. Selected deaf athletes will then represent the country to national and international levels such as the Asean Deaf Games, Asia Pacific Deaf Sports, and Deaflympics Games.
